Get your Motor Running

I've been very behind on updating this blog.  My wife gave birth to a health baby girl on April 2nd 2009 and life as been good. I actually managed some time on the car, but not at the computer. Only three months old, she is already a great helper on the car. She really seems to enjoy sitting in her swing and watching me work.

I started the ford 390 fe for the first time last week. One of the things I completely over looked was the points. After going through a whole new ignition system it wasn't firing up like it should - points where very corroded.  On a quick look, they apperead fine and clean but a quick cleaning with fine sandpaper and that 390 fe was running in no time.  The steps I wrote about last post worked like a charm for getting the engine ready to start up again and it did so without any issues.  I will write out a more detailed post showing how exactly to set your points and other basic timing, rmp, and fuel mixture set up for a quick tune up.  I will also be going through the brake system, fuel lines, and other safety concerns before taking her around the block for a test drive.
